Tokaji harslevelu

Harslevelu is a richly-flavored grape variety from Hungary. It is best known for its supporting role in sweet Tokaji wines (where the better-known Furmint variety rules), but is sometimes made as a varietal wine, in both dry and sweet styles. The name refers to the lime (tree) leaf in each of these languages.


Tokaj has a world-famous reputation among serious wine lovers. The region of Tokaj is renowned for sweet wines.

Its vineyards are spread out across the foothills of the Zemplén Mountains. Many of these vineyards were established as early as the 12th century. From the outset, they focused on producing singlevineyard wines, made from the first growth vineyards of Mezes Maly, Nyulaszo, St Tamas and Betsek.
